3 simple practices to owning your voice.
May 27, 2025Let me guess: you are longing to feel confident when it comes to your voice.
You’ve been feeling it, right?
That little nudge.
That quiet “hey, don’t forget about me” feeling.
Maybe (just maybe) you’re tired of holding back.
Same.
Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about ownership—not in a heavy “let’s overanalyze our inner world” kind of way, but more like:
What would it feel like to actually claim my voice?
Not just think about it.
Not just journal about it.
But live it. Choose it. Stand in it.
If that idea lights something up in you—if you’re thinking, “YES, that. More of that, please.”—then hi. I see you. You’re in the right place.
And guess what?
I’ve got something brewing for you.
Something bold, grounded, and a little spicy.
Something that doesn’t ask your voice to be “perfect” before it gets to exist.
No big reveal yet (soon, I pinky promise)—
But in the meantime, here’s something you can play with right now:
3 Fun + Simple Ways to Start Owning Your Voice
1. Finish this sentence: “I’m allowed to…”
Say it out loud.
Write it on a post-it.
Scream it into a pillow if you need to.
Examples:
👉🏼 I’m allowed to sing like me.
👉🏼 I’m allowed to take up space.
👉🏼 I’m allowed to make weird, wonderful, not-for-everyone art.
Seriously—permission granted.
2. Spot the approval trap.
Where are you still waiting for someone to say “yes” before you move?
A teacher, an audience, the imaginary panel of judges in your head?
Now ask: What would it look like to choose for me instead?
(Hot tip: it might feel like freedom.)
3. Name one tiny step you can take for you.
Ownership doesn’t have to be loud.
It isn’t always big.
Sometimes it’s choosing the scary song.
Or saying “no thanks” to something that doesn’t fit.
Pick one small thing that feels like a “yes” to you—and try it on.
These aren’t just cute prompts.
They’re little revolutions.
Each one says: I trust myself. I trust my taste. I trust my voice.
And the more you practice, the easier it gets.
Suddenly ownership isn’t this big “someday” goal.
It’s just...how you roll.
So yeah—something new is coming.
It’s for the singers who are done with shrinking, pleasing, and shape-shifting.
It’s for the ones who want to show up as their whole, gloriously imperfect selves.
Whether you’re performing on stage or singing into a shampoo bottle, this is about meeting your voice where it actually lives:
In the breath-before.
In the messy middle.
In the choosing.
Because owning your voice isn’t about “getting there.”
It’s about coming back to yourself—again and again.
And I’m building something to help you do exactly that.
So stick around.
More soon.
And while you wait, try this:
What would it feel like to own your voice just 5% more today?
That’s it. That’s the whole thing.
No leaping required.
Just one tiny, brave, beautifully-you step.

Parting thought: You don’t have to wait until you’re “ready.”
Nobody ever really is.
Readiness is overrated—devotion is what builds the muscle.
So sing the song.
Show up to the audition.
Move your voice.
Even if it’s not “perfect”.
It still counts.
Especially then.
You’ve totally got this.
