Oct 31, 2025
A client recently was lamenting the changes she was noticing in her voice.
She had taken a long break from singing and was reconnecting to her passion after many years.
She told me, “It just doesn’t do what it used to. It feels different- lower, heavier, sometimes harder to control.”
She’d been feeling the pull to sing the songs she used to sing, in the same keys, the same way, only to find they didn’t fit anymore. What once felt easy now felt like a stretch.
In our lessons, we’ve been working on embracing those changes instead of fighting them. Discovering new keys that fit her like a glove and leaning into the richness, warmth, and texture of the voice she has now.
And slowly, she’s discovering something beautiful:
that her “new” voice isn’t lesser.
It’s deeper, wiser, and infinitely expressive in ways her younger voice never was.
Our voices, like the rest of us, are living things.
They grow. They shift. They reflect the chapters of our lives.
Maybe you’ve noticed it, too.

👉🏻 After having a baby.
👉🏻 During menopause.
The body changes, the voice follows.
The range might shift.
The tone might get richer.
It might feel harder to access the light, flexible sound that used to come so easily.
And it’s natural to grieve that.
You might be struggling with the fear of never getting your voice back. Of looking foolish. Of never being the singer your heart has longed to be.
What if this is an opportunity rather than a loss? What if this new chapter in your life is a beginning?
Your voice is still here.
It’s just wearing new clothes.
It carries your stories now.
Your heartbreaks. Your resilience.
Your wisdom.
Your power.
When we stop trying to force it back into what was and start listening to what it’s trying to say now, we uncover a whole new layer of artistry.
Maybe your high notes have shifted somewhat - but your lower ones have gained a color that can move people to tears.
Maybe your voice no longer fits the songs you used to sing, but it’s ready for new ones that fit who you are now.
This is the real work of singing. Not chasing youth or perfection, but learning how to stay in relationship with your ever-changing instrument.
Because your voice is not just muscle and air.
It tells your story.
So if your voice feels unfamiliar lately, try this:
Get curious.
Explore without judgment.
Find the beauty in the sound that’s emerging.
You might be surprised at what’s waiting for you there.
If you’re ready to rediscover your voice…
to incorporate strengthening practices to keep it flexible and strong….
make peace with what’s changed and uncover the beauty and freedom in what’s here now…
I’d love to help you.
In private voice lessons, we’ll explore your voice as it is today: how it moves, what it needs, and how to bring out its richness, ease, and emotional power.
And while we are at it, let's put you in the driver seat. No more voice lessons feeling confused & disempowered.
My student-led approach means you are the authority of your experience. You decide ultimately what's best for you and as a result, develop ownership over your creative practice.
This is not about getting your “old voice” back- it’s about finding your new one: the one that’s wise, beautiful, and yours.
